The Haven of Rest Children's Home caters for the needs of infected and affected HIV/AIDS orphans from our community.  It is a reality that South Africa is witnessing this pandemic which has claimed the lives of countless innocent children. The question is who is to blame?

Mainly due to the parent's negligence, these innocent babies are now destined to live with this dreadful disease called HIV/AIDS.  In the midst of this global epidemic the Haven of Rest has heard the cries of these innocent children and come to their rescue.  For the past seven years, the Haven of Rest has been a home of love, comfort and care to these precious souls.  Dedicated care-workers are instrumental in caring for these children.  To date Haven of Rest has housed and placed over 200 children and babies.

Currently we have 24 children varying in age from 1-14 years of which 15 of them attend school.  In November 2006 we lost our very first child, Sine Mthethwa, at the Haven of Rest.

We have released over fifty children to their extended families as this is part of the Child Care Act.  We now have a social worker who has tremendously helped the Haven of Rest in legally placing the children at the Haven of Rest and also for acquiring their birth documents.  All of our children live with their foster parents in individual homes.

The Haven of Rest Children's Home has spread its wings to Malawi where seven shelters are being built to accommodate the orphans and street children.  The official launch was on the 21 August 2007.

The Haven of Rest is broadening its vision in the communities as we are embarking on opening Haven of Rest shelters at Magwaveni in Fairbreeze, to render our services to the orphans of our society.
