From its inception of the Haven of Rest, an Old Age Home was incorporated to provide care for the elderly of our society. The centre caters for 10 males and 10 females. From its inception, the Haven of Rest housed 65 seniors.
Our residents have become an integral part of the Haven of Rest family. We at the Haven believe that the life of the aged needs to be celebrated. Each one has his or her legacy and have contributed to the community in some way in their younger days. We aim to help some of the seniors regain their lost sense of dignity and self esteem. We encourage them to be a part of the activities at the centre. One of our aims is to reunite and mend broken relationships with family members.
In 2006, the Department of Social Welfare and Population Development have recognized and registered the Home as a non-frail care home for senior citizens. This has been helpful in screening prospective residents medically but there is still a need for a frail care facility. We have an average of 20 calls per month requesting the services of a frail care facility.
The Lord Jesus Christ said:
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I was naked and you clothed me,
I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me.
When the disciples asked Jesus,
when were you all these things,
He replied: Whatever you did for one the least of these brothers of mine,
you did it unto me.” - Matthew 25:35, 36, 40
